As the outdoor season opens it means the close of our Short Mat indoor competitions. Congratulations to John Freer who won both the Charles Vine and Andrew Bishop Trophies which I think is the first time the double has been done. Presenting the awards we were again delighted to welcome the daughter of one of our former bowlers after whom the awards are named. Christine Cameron is Charles Vine’s daughter. Many congratulations to John and to everyone who made it another thoroughly enjoyable and competitive season including several new members playing for the first time, with just the right balance of humour, skilful play and the occasional curse. The curses are usually associated with fines charged for fouls which helped raise £75 for Air Ambulance. Thanks also to John Pearce for doing all the organising on match days and to Lachlan MacInnes who manages the competitions.
